December 1, 2013
Dear GSSLF Supporter:
The annual Gladstone Scholarship & Student Loan Foundation (GSSLF) Century Club Drive will kick off on December 1, 2013. The drive will include direct mailings to prominent Gladstone citizens, local businesses, and past contributors as well as notices in Delta County newspapers.
During the 2012- 2013 drive, over $10,000 was raised for the GSSLF. The Directors of the GSSLF have set a goal of $10,000 again this year so that we may continue assisting students during these troubling economic times.
Proceeds from the Century Club Drive are used to award interest-free student loans to Gladstone Area High School graduates who will be furthering their education by attending technical, two-year, or four-year institutions. In 2013 alone, ninety-three graduates were awarded loans in the amount of $2,000.00 each. As long as the repayment schedule is maintained, these loans remain interest- free.
The repayment of these student loans, and generous donations from the community, ultimately increase the money available to the GSSLF for future student loans. The GSSLF Board of Directors hopes the increases in revenue and donations will mean an increase in the amount of interest-free student loans available to GAHS graduates. This is especially important because the rising cost of higher education is making it more difficult for the GSSLF to help graduates meet expenses.
On behalf of the Gladstone Scholarship & Student Loan Foundation Board of Directors, I ask you to make a contribution and help realize the dreams of Gladstone’s young adults. A self-addressed envelope has been included for your convenience, and your gift may be tax-deductible according to IRS regulations. The Century Club recommends a donation of $100 or more, but donations of any amount are welcome and greatly appreciated. Please make your check payable to the Gladstone Scholarship & Student Loan Foundation. Below are a few quotes from thank you notes we have received from GHS college bound students:
· “…thank you for investing in my future.” ~Jacob
· “…my educational future would not be possible without the support that this scholarship has given me. Once again, thank you.” ~Mikayla
· “Please find enclosed check for payment in full of Matthew’s student loan. This loan assistance was very much appreciated.” ~Parent of student
Since 1959, over 2,000 GAHS graduates have received assistance from the GSSLF. With your help, our community’s commitment to education can continue to help change the lives of Gladstone youth.
Very truly yours,
Gladstone Scholarship & Student Loan Foundation – Century Club
